Vacancy 3, the kitchen
|
| Thanks to
Lori Lipsman for for sponsoring this and the other two
Vacancy Shows. |
| Michele Guieu did a nice
write up of the entire show at her blog,
inspirations, etc... |
|
| Prior to the show I sent out a request to
several people for a picture of their fridge. I was
thinking of the front, but others thought differently. The
following pictures were all on the fridge in the kitchen
during the show (except Jesse's which got to me late).
Bernard's picture latter appeared on a website specializing
in pictures like this... who knew? |

Photo shoot prior to the event
|
|
With
these installations I try to do a photo shoot in the space
or one like it before the event. I was interested in
cantaloupes, plastic wrap, and being naked in the kitchen.
My fridge picture (naked plastic wrapped person) is from
that shoot. Here are some other snaps that
struck me. Working them into gallery images is still
down the road. We had a lot of fun... |

The Art (on the walls, in the air, and in the cupboards)
|
This
was a joint show between Maria and I in the kitchen.
Her work was a series of baking bread scents, some burnt,
some savory. Click here for her explanation. We
also hung some work of mine made out of old kitchen doors
and drawers. Maria's ceramic work filled the
cupboards. I came unshaven and in a bathrobe. I
sat at the kitchen table talking to anyone about sex,
family, or religion. I had a bottle of Port that I
shared with my conversation companions. I also had a
photo opportunity for anyone willing to wrap themselves in
plastic wrap naked. I had one taker... (The first two
pictures were taken by Lori Lipsman) |
